Each piece is constructed and detailed by hand-no molds-from its dimpled rind to the signature six-pointed crown, glazed in multiple layers, and fired in the kiln at more than 1,300°C (2,372°F)-the temperature at which porcelain vitrifies into a glassy, dense substance of permanent beauty. It takes about 8 hours to mold and carve each one, and the pomegranate is fired at least 3 times, with the glaze evolving and deepening with each pass through the oven.

Since each piece is handmade-no two are ever fired identically-the one that arrives at your door is truly one of a kind. The glazing mimics a fruit in its prime, ranging from a ripe green-gold at the shoulder that transitions into a blushing red, complete with natural flecking and variations in color found on the real thing. Looking closely, the crown retains the dry, cracked texture of one that's just opened on the branch; it is recognizable as fruit at a distance and as finely crafted porcelain the moment you hold it, feeling the cool weight and stillness in your hand.
