1、Mindful Cleansing: Though dishwasher and microwave safe, we highly recommend gentle hand washing with mild soap to preserve the unique tactile finish.
2、Temperature Resilience: Avoid extreme thermal shock. Never move a piece directly from a freezing environment to sudden high heat.
3、Living History: Over time, matte glazes may develop a subtle patina from dark teas or espresso. Embrace these gentle marks—they are not flaws, but the beautiful, unfolding story of your vessel.
Description
The 120ml Páhuā Tea Cups and Saucers
Some mornings, there are things worth more than paper cups.
These 120ml tea cups and saucers are designed for the ritual of sipping slowly: a cup of carefully extracted espresso, a macchiato shared during a conversation, and an afternoon tea meticulously prepared.
A cup and a saucers. Made to be used, made to be kept.
The Páhuā Craft
One Technique. One Thousand Years of Practice.
Process Story Segment 1 - Processes
“Páhuā” - literally meaning “scraping pattern” - is one of the most complex surface techniques in the entire Jingdezhen ceramic tradition. The artisans start with a clay body that has been dried to an exact leather-like hardness: hard enough to maintain its shape and soft enough to be carved without cracking.
Process Story Segment 2 - Details
Using a set of custom-ground metal tools - some of which are like steel needles - the craftsman meticulously scraped away the surface layer of the clay body, revealing the underlying white porcelain core, creating a continuous texture. On these tea cups and plates, the patterns are continuous hand-painted floral and plant designs covering the entire outer wall of the cups and the inner side of the plates. There are no stamps, no appliqués, and no repetitive machine patterns.
Process Story Segment 3- Cost
Before each cup was placed in the kiln for the first time, it required several hours of uninterrupted carving. The craftsman couldn't stop in the middle of the design - the clay would dry out and the rhythm would break, and the work would have to start all over again. Each tea cup and saucer in this series carries the full attention of one hand throughout the entire process.
Process Story Segment 4- Glazing
After the carving is completed, the work undergoes a high-temperature unglazed firing to set the shape, and then a technique called “reverse flow glazing” is used to apply a gradient emerald green glaze - starting from the bottom of the cup and gradually applying the glaze upwards, making the color deepen at the bottom and fade towards the cup mouth, just like the natural retreat of the tide away from the shore.
Three Moments:One Set of Tea Cups and Saucers
These are the moments this set was made for.
The Slow Morning
Before the calendar is filled up. Before the notification starts. 120ml of concentrated coffee, carefully extracted, is poured into this ceramic cup - it deserves your focused attention for this day.
The Afternoon Pause
The meeting ended, and you left your seat. A cup of tea, placed in this set of Jingdezhen tea cups and saucers, was held in both hands. The tips of your fingers touched the engraved patterns, and the emerald green absorbed the light from the window.
The Table Woeth Remembering
The tea party with close friends before the wedding, the luncheon on Mother's Day, that carefully arranged dinner you prepared. When the tea cups and plates on the table are this beautiful, the occasion itself will naturally elevate to match them.
